SPEAKER – Modeling the microbiome: Microbiome interactions shape Drosophila fitness

Will trained in invasive species ecology and population genetics at Stanford University as well completed a PhD in cell biology, biophysics, and bioinformatics at UCSF. He co-founded uBiome in 2012 and left to found his academic lab at UC Berkeley in 2013, moving to the Carnegie Institution in 2018. The lab studies physical and molecular principles of microbiome-host interactions using fruit flies. The particular focus is on gut colonization.
